Dr. Lisa Mauro was born in upstate New York. Niagara Falls to be exact. As a young woman, Dr. Mauro has had a passion to care for animals. Her curiosity and compassion for animals and animal care put her on the obvious path of becoming a veterinarian. As an undergraduate, Dr. Mauro attended UNLV. Her devotion to care for animals led her to Iowa State University. At Iowa State, she achieved her ultimate goal by receiving her D.V.M. (Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine) degree in 1995. During veterinary school, she was president of the Student Chapter of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and was the recipient of the 1st Annual World Animal Care Foundation award.
