October and November Are Heart Health Awareness Months at Haven Animal Hospital

At Haven Animal Hospital we believe that a healthy heart is a happy heart, which is why for the months of October and November we are having Heart Health Awareness Months at our hospital.  Heart disease can be a silent killer in pets, and is not often discovered until damage has been done.

What is included in Heart Health Awareness Months?

Exam

Blood pressure measurement

Three view chest x-rays on your pet which will allow Dr. Mauro to see the lungs, heart, and large blood vessels in the pet's chest.

X-rays sent off to a radiologist for interpretation.

Finally, we will give your pet an ECG.  An electrocardiogram test allows us to check how effectively the heart is working.  This test will show any abnormalities especially if the physical exam reveals an abnormal heart rhythm.
